Hi everyone. I love your new website. The photos are particularly lovely to see. I taught at the school in 2001/2 and am now a Headteacher in Birmingham. My family has exceptionally good memories of our time at Dhekelia. My children, Sophie and Jack Le Gros attended Dhekelia Primary School but are now both soon to leave education as they are 18 and 16! Love to everyone there. Enjoy your time at Dhekelia as it is a very special place. x

Hi, I too am going down the great memory lane! I attended this school between 1988-1991 with my dad in Royal Engineers and my mum running the Pop Inn bar, Hilda and Ian. I actually visited the site to see if I could purchase an old yearbook to try and catch up with people I went to school with. If anyone can help with obtaining copies please get in touch. I hope everyone is keeping well x

Hi all at Dhekelia school. What a great place. I was a pupil from 1969 -1972, when Miss Chalmers was headteather. I even remember her car , a white VW. I enjoyed the school very much and remember fellow pupils such as Paul Laciter, Ralph Gordon and many others. Would like to see a few more pictures of the school and grounds. Treasure your time, it is wonderful. All the very best for the future.

  18. Comment left by IAN GATWARD at 21:54:43 on Jul 27, 2010

It was fascinating to look at the website as I lived opposite the school from Aug 71 until I left early in 73 and the headmistress that I can recall was miss Chalmers I think. There was certainly not astroturf when I played football on the pitch it was just dirt. I am afraid I cannot think of anyones name. I remember my school hours were lovely as it was 8.30 till 1.30 then it was to the beach. Hope anyone who was there at that time can get in touch

I attended DPS from 1978 - 80, Judith Chalmers was the head, I always remember she had quite short nails and filed them to a point. My teacher was Miss Phillips and there was another teacher by the name of Mr Powell, who's son Richard I had the biggest crush on. Whenever I think of DPS I always remember my friend Vanessa always used to bring a frozen cherry cordial drink with her lunch and it tasted delicious. I also remember Denise Askew, Richard Codling, Dawn Gallagher, Nicholas Ransome, Fiona Newman and Andrew Jarrett but that's all I'm afraid, anyone else who was there during those years, feel free to get in touch.

Hello everyone - quite by chance I looked up the spelling of Dhekalia on the internet and found your fantastic website! I spent 1969 to 1972 in Dhekalia and attended your lovely school. I have many happy memories and look back very fondly at what I have always called my formative years. I remember distinctly my teacher, Miss Katie Scopes. She was an absolutely fantastic artist and would draw a big picture of every chapter of the book she would read to us daily. At the end of each book or term, she would let us take a picture home each. Wonderful memories. Treasure your time there. I still do. With love, Anne-Marie xx

I left in 1986, Mr Burdess (I think!!) Was headmaster and the deputy head was Mr Monroe. I was also in his class at some point too. Sadly I cant remember many of the teachers names but I do remember Mr Cochran and Mr Drury, an Australian guy. A memory that is very vivid is visiting the TV room and watching recorded Videos of bbc schools programs. Also the annual swimming gala at the pool. We lived up the hill, past the School on Mons Road near the big NAAFI which im told is no longer there. Great times.
